Dedicated to eliminating civil and criminal statutes of limitations (SOL) on crimes of sexual assault and abuse of minors.

 CURRENT GOAL:

Get An Amended Version of House Bill 5131 passed before the session ends on 7/31!

Our redrafted bill has now been referred to the State House Steering and Policy Committee and given a new number: House 5131.   Committee Chair Paul Donato, who met with us on 7/17, carefully considered all of our arguments and agreed to send the bill to the floor for debate and, we hope, passage in an amended form.  We are deeply grateful to Representative Donato for taking time out of his busy schedule to listen to the vast amount of evidence that we have gathered in support of this crucial legislation and for agreeing to help us by promoting the democratic process.

As the Legislature decides the fate of this bill, it’s essential that your representatives hear from you.  Please urge your representatives to pass a version of this bill that abolishes time limits for all minors who have been victims of sexual assault and abuse.

Subject:  Let's get rid of outdated SOL's on child sexual abuse.

 Optional email text:

Time is running out for Massachusetts children.

We ask that you adopt a zero tolerance policy—not a reduced tolerance policy—on crimes of child and  adolescent sexual abuse.   Support repeal of civil and criminal statutes of limitations this session to provide justice for survivors and make Massachusetts safer for our kids.

Please join all gubernatorial candidates, including Attorney General Tom Reilly and Lt. Governor Kerry Healey, psychologists, social workers, criminal justice experts, victim advocates, and DA's throughout the state in support of this crucial legislation.

Thank you for voting in favor of this hugely popular, bipartisan, and long overdue step toward ending child sexual abuse.
